Does anyone have any travel tips for Europe?

I am a regular American planning a trip to Europe with my brother. It will probably be a two week affair. I am looking for any tips that people might have onwhat to bring and how to "backpack" across europe as well as places to stay and monetary advice. I am a college student with limited cash flow and any advice on how to skrimp and save would be great, as well as locations that would be good to travel to

london is nice but expensive portugal is cheap but boring france is nice if you go to paris and not to expensive italy is pretty germany its pretty nice to thats what i can tell
first of all do not trust the Greeks, second, do not eat at restaurants rather go to the local bakeries and local markets and get your food there. check your accommodation rates over and over again, do not except the first that is available. watch out at overly friendly people, check your back, and you will be fine, you will love it and enjoy
You should do what I did. I just started traveling last year, and I used EF College Break. They were really good and they take care of all the details for you. All you pay for is lunch and dinner, since the package tour includes round trip airfare and hotels and a tour director. So it was pretty cool that I did not have to worry about anything and just have fun. You should check it out. I think its only for people 18 - 26 though since it is a student subsidized travel thing. So basically, you do the tourist thing one morning with them, and then you are free to explore and experience. Oh, and if you decide to use them I recently got a promo code for them at this fair. it is HESSELN1188 and it saves you like an extra $100. What you can do is opt for staying behind, and then use their ticket to travel to your next destination or back home at a later date. You should see if it works for you. I had lots of fun on my trip. I went to France! You just book online. Um, just google ef college break and you should find it. Its the cheapest way to travel, I have found so far - and I have looked for a long time
Eastern Europe is cheaper than Western Europe. Bus travel is cheapest, but it is boring and slow! Take twice the money and half the clothes you originally think you will need. Use ATM machines. do not carry your money in your wallet. Wear a whenever you're. Buy your food in a shop and do not eat in restaurants all the time. do not you dare eat American food either! You're in another country for crying outside. Try the local stuff. Don't be shy but do not obnoxious, either. Have fun! Stay loose
